Looking ahead to Manchester United’s matchup with Everton, there are questions about the the front three without Benjamin Sesko. Injuries are beginning to take a toll on the squad, and this is the first
look Amorim will have at a team without his big summer signing.
Joshua Zirkzee
The Dutchman hasn’t had a proper go this season. He’s unlikely to start, but should get more chances this month. Benjamin Sesko has made some contributions, but has still got a long way to go. If he’s to live up to his potential, he’ll need strong competition. Zirkzee, of course, has his own ambitions at United and needs to take a step up after a forgettable first season.
Everton’s Wide Men
United’s left flank has been an issue all season. Iliman Ndiaye has been one of the best players so far this season, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone if he gets on the scoresheet. The other flank has been a positive, but keeping Jack Grealish quiet will be no easy task. United aren’t well-equipped to handle either, so they’ll just have to take the game to Everton and come out on top.
Possession Share
It’s too easy to reduce the nature of United’s results and performance down to the share of possession they have in a game. Still, a trend has emerged this season: United seem to do better with a lower share of possession. They’re more likely to have a higher share in this game. This is as good a chance as any to must that myth and go on a run.
