Lightweight veterans Drew Dober and Michael Johnson are set to slug it out at the upcoming UFC 326 card scheduled on March 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday following an initial report from MMA Junkie. The main event that night pits Max Holloway against Charles Oliveira in a rematch with the “BMF” title going up for grabs.
The fight serves as Johnson’s first appearance since his scheduled matchup
against Alexander Hernandez at UFC 324 was scrapped after the matchup was flagged for betting irregularities. A dramatic shift in the betting lines forced the UFC to pull the bout from the card, although neither fighter was accused of any wrongdoing at the time.
An investigation was opened but obviously Johnson wasn’t affected because he’s already been rebooked for a new fight in March. He comes into the event off three straight wins including victories over Daniel Zellhuber and Ottman Azaitar.
As for Dober, the always exciting lightweight returns with designs to build on his most recent knockout win over Kyle Prepolec at the UFC Vancouver card this past October. That win ended a three-fight skid for Dober and earned him a Fight of the Night award — the fifth of his UFC career.
Combined, Dober and Johnson have earned 15 post-fight bonuses in the UFC so it’s expected these two could have a very entertaining affair come March 7.
The final lineup for UFC 326 has not been announced yet and the bout order for the card is still to be determined.
