Results were mixed as six of Liverpool FC’s players took part in international action on Thursday evening.
The Dutch contingent of Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo were in World Cup Qualifying Group G action, hosting Poland in Rotterdam. The match ended 1-1.
In Group A, Florian Wirtz played the full 90 minutes as Germany were beaten away to Slovakia, 2-0. Wirtz has been under fire online and in the German press for his performance but eh, I thought he played better than most of his teammates
in what was a pretty dismal outing for the German team as a whole.
Also in the same group, Conor Bradley played 77 minutes as Northern Ireland beat Luxembourg 3-1 away for three points.
In Group E, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili started for Georgia, but was unable to prevent Turkey from winning 3-2 on home soil.
Last but not least, Trent Kone-Doherty was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland U21s in a 2-1 away win against Moldova in Euros qualifying.
