Yeah, yeah, I know. We’re still talking about wide receiver trades for the Steelers after a year and a half. But, until a move happens, these talking points, rumors, etc. will be at the forefront of conversation with the Steelers – especially ahead of the trade deadline.
With Adam Schefter reporting the Steelers are still interested in making a move for a wide receiver, I put together a handful of realistic trades that could bring in a solid No. 2 wideout, but also some trades that probably won’t
happen, but it would be great to see.
Tier One: Realistic, Home Run
Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders

- Las Vegas Raiders receive: 2026 3rd-round pick, 2027 6th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Jakobi Meyers, 2027 5th-round pick
Meyers is probably the guy most Steelers fans have discussed as wanting to see him come to Pittsburgh. The Raiders have been severely disappointing, and Geno Smith threw another interception while the writing of this column was taking place. Meyers is coming off an 87-catch season and already has 29 receptions in 2025. He would give the Steelers a legitimate One-Two punch at receiver that teams would have to respect.
Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints

- New Orleans Saints receive: 2026 4th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Chris Olave
Olave is a very good receiver, but the injury history does bring some concern and may lower his value. When he’s on the field, though, he is a legitimate go-to receiver who can win 50-50 balls, and he is a very good route runner who can win at each level of the field.
D.J. Moore, Chicago Bears

- Chicago Bears receive: 2026 3rd-round pick, 2027 5th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR D.J. Moore
Moore has 90+ catches in each of the last two seasons, but has quickly become second fiddle to Rome Odunze. With Luther Burden emerging, as well, Moore becomes expendable for a team building a new corps going forward. A third-round pick as the entree of the deal could get the job done.
Tier Two: Realistic, Possibly Fun
A.D. Mitchell, Indianapolis Colts

- Indianapolis Colts receive: WR Roman Wilson, 2026 5th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR A.D. Mitchell, 2026 7th-round pick
Both the Colts and Steelers clearly have no plans to use their respective receivers. For the Colts, they have a trio of very good wideouts in Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce, but they still used a second-round pick on Mitchell. He had a blunder against the Los Angeles Rams where he dropped the ball while switching hands before crossing the goal line, and that has landed him in the dog house.
Similarly, the Steelers obviously have zero faith in Wilson. With Calvin Austin out of the lineup, the Michigan product played just 15 snaps against the Browns while Scotty Miller played 26. Give him a new start, and bring in a more explosive receiver in Mitchell, who also needs a fresh start – both sides win.
Rashid Shaheed, New Orleans Saints

- New Orleans Saints receive: 2026 4th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Rashid Shaheed, 2026 6th-round pick
If the Steelers wanted to add pure speed and a deep threat to the offense, Shaheed is a fun name to monitor. He had an 88-yard touchdown against the New York Giants. A pure vertical threat to complement DK Metcalf would give the Steelers two legit deep threats, and also make defenses have to respect that a deep shot could come at any time, leading to lighter boxes.
Tier Three: Realistic, Uninspiring
Allen Lazard, New York Jets

- New York Jets receive: 2027 6th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Allen Lazard
Ah yes – the most obvious, most uninspiring trade. Lazard played with Aaron Rodgers in both Green Bay and New York. They have a good relationship. That’s about all the merit to this trade. He doesn’t add a ton from a talent perspective. He would be an upgrade at the No. 2 boundary receiver, but compared to Scotty Miller, that isn’t saying a ton.
Mack Hollins, New England Patriots

- New England Patriots receive: 2027 5th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Mack Hollins
Hollins is practically just quirky Gabe Davis. He’ll run block his butt off and do all the dirty work, but doesn’t provide much as a pure receiver. Good locker room guy, but this would be very underwhelming.
Tier Four: Unrealistic
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles

- Philadelphia Eagles receive: EDGE Alex Highsmith, 2026 2nd-round pick, 2026 4th-round pick
- Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR A.J. Brown, 2026 3rd-round pick
The Steelers and Eagles haven’t been shy with one another when it comes to trades, as the Steelers sent Kenny Pickett to Philadelphia back in March of 2024. However, this feels like a pipe dream more than anything. Yes there is connective tissue between Brown and D.K. Metcalf, as well as Arthur Smith and Brown, who were together in Tennessee with the Titans. That said, I doubt Howie Roseman will be in a hurry to trade Brown.
