With the 2025-26 college basketball season tipping off next week, there’s a real chance the Kentucky Wildcats will have starting point guard Jaland Lowe available.
On Wednesday, UK held an open practice for local media, and the biggest storyline was that Lowe did practice, though it was only some light drill work and shooting.
Head coach Mark Pope later said the team is still limiting Lowe to non-contact work, as they want to play it safe with his shoulder injury, but are getting him ready for Game
1.
“We’re being really careful with him (Lowe) so that he can be fully healthy when we start the season,” Pope told the media.
So there’s a real chance Lowe will play in either the regular-season opener vs. Nicholls on November 4 or the November 7 game vs. Valparaiso.
At worst, Lowe should be back from the November 11 showdown with the Louisville Cardinals.
Here’s to hoping Lowe is in the starting lineup when the Cats begin what hopes to be a special season.
