The Carla Berube era is officially underway in Evanston. In her introductory press conference, Berube stressed the importance of being active in the transfer portal and finding talented student-athletes that buy into her as a coach and the program’s high standards. So far, the ‘Cats have landed two players, welcoming Syracuse freshman Camdyn Nelson and Kentucky sophomore Lexi Blue. More moves are expected for Berube’s squad as she puts together her first
roster as the Wildcats’ coach.

Transfers In

Nelson became Northwestern’s first transfer portal on April 12. The freshman guard spent the past season at Syracuse, where she averaged 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game serving as a backup point guard of the Orange offense.

[Commited] Lexi Blue | G | Kentucky | 6-2
Northwestern secured its second transfer portal commitment on April 13, landing Kentucky guard Lexi Blue. The sophomore averaged 2.1 points in 10.8 minutes across 28 games this past season.

[In portal] Tayla Thomas | F | Sophomore | Entered portal: April 6
Thomas was a focal part of Joe McKeown’s rotation during her sophomore season, starting in 28 of 29 games while averaging 9.7 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game.

[In portal] Angelina Hodgens G | Freshman | Entered portal: March 28
Hodgens became the first Wildcat to hit the transfer portal, departing after one season in purple where she appeared in 16 games and averaged 1.7 points per game.
