The NFL has been releasing its NFL Top 100 participants slowly over the last few weeks, and on Friday, the moment came that Bears fans were waiting for: Caleb Williams was announced as the No. 51 player on their list.
This marks Williams’ first appearance on the annual list as he ends into his third season in the NFL. It also marks only the second time that a Bears quarterback has appeared on the list since its inception in 2011; Justin Fields was the first to appear with his No. 86 ranking in 2023.
It’s been a strong offseason of hype for Williams, and much of it has been warranted. He’s coming off a year in which he led Chicago to their first NFC North crown since 2018, as well as their first playoff victory since 2011. He earned cover athlete recognition on the front of Madden NFL 27, making him the first Bears player to ever receive cover athlete status on a standard edition of the game. It’s also worth mentioning he came in as the No. 90 entrant in Pro Football Network’s Top 100 list, as well.
In 17 games last season, Williams threw for 3,942 yards, a single-season record in Bears history. He also threw for 27 touchdowns to just seven interceptions on a 58.1% completion percentage, adding 388 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns to the mix.
