Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was once a promising, young defender at Hamburger and as the old saying goes, it takes one to know one.
When the Belgian looks over Hamburger SV’s roster, he comes
away very impressed by Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luka Vušković.
“He’s a big talent. The Bundesliga is a very difficult league to develop as a young center-back. You need to be physically strong. Having an important role at HSV is ideal. He needs to listen well to his good coach there. He doesn’t need to do much more. I just hope he doesn’t play well against us at the weekend,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The towering 18-year-old has been one of the breakout young players in the Bundesliga this season and has caught the attention of many clubs, including Bayern Munich. According to Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Vinzent Tschirpke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is watching the defender very closely in the event that the team loses a center-back or two this summer:
Bayern have Luka Vušković on their radar and are closely monitoring his development – as are all top clubs in Europe. But it’s still too early to talk about a concrete move. The 18-year old is on loan at HSV from Tottenham until the end of the season. He recently indicated that he’ll make a decision on his future after the World Cup. Vušković could become a serious option for Bayern in case of a defensive departure.
The future of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae are uncertain at the moment, which could propel Bayern Munich to get serious about the Croatian. Vušković, however, likely has a big number on his head from Tottenham Hotspur, so any club seeking to bring him in on a permanent deal could have to be willing to pay a premium.
