Amid its turbulent season, No. 11 Maryland men’s lacrosse has had some standout performances from its graduating class. Those players were recognized on Wednesday, as six Terps received Big Ten honors.
While Henry Dodge doesn’t play the flashiest position, Maryland’s leading faceoff specialist has been arguably the team’s most important piece. The Vermont transfer sits fourth nationally with a 68.1% faceoff win rate and has the third-most ground balls per game (4.3) in the conference.
Dodge has been
instrumental in the country’s fourth-best faceoff unit, leading to his All-Big Ten first-team selection.
Leo Johnson has excelled in his lone season at Maryland. That was furthered after he was named to the All-Big Ten first team. Johnson has been one of the conference’s most dangerous attacking weapons. His four points per game are the top mark in the Big Ten — Johnson has a team-high 25 goals and 19 assists.
AJ Larkin’s impact isn’t evident on the statsheet, but the long-stick midfielder does all the little things for the Terps. He was recognized for those efforts with an All-Big Ten first-team honoree. Larkin has posted six goals, caused six turnovers and scooped up 35 ground balls.
Despite missing three games earlier this season, Eric Spanos still earned an All-Big Ten second-team selection. It’s justified. Spanos has netted 20 goals across his eight starts — his 2.5 goals per game are tied for second in the conference.
The No. 12-ranked class of 2025 recruit, Matt Higgins has been a breakout star in his freshman campaign. Higgins has dished out seven assists, which is the team’s fourth-highest mark. The California native has added three goals, cementing his place on the All-Big Ten freshman team.
Trace Davidson earned a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Davidson has appeared in six games this season as part of Maryland’s defensive unit.
