The Cleveland Browns need help at the wide receiver position.
The need may not be as urgent as the one at quarterback, where the Browns continue to try and win with historically horrible play from the position, but an upgrade from the guys tasked with catching the ball is near the top of the list.
Jerry Jeudy, the presumptive No. 1 receiver, followed up a career year by leading the position with just 50 receptions and 602 receiving yards. Jeudy’s two touchdown catches were tied with Cedric Tillman
for the most by a Cleveland wide receiver.
As for the rest of the group, well, they tried hard. But Tillman, Gage Larvadain, Jamari Thrash, Malachi Corley, and Isaiah Bond combined for just 67 receptions, 865 yards, and Tillman was the only one to find the end zone.
Part of general manager Andrew Berry’s plan for a “heavy investment” on the offensive side of the ball should result in a couple of new faces arriving in town, which makes evaluating college prospects as important as ever.
This weekend’s Senior Bowl is an opportunity to see some of the available players in action one last time. And while some of the top prospects opt to skip the game, the Browns will be there checking things out.
Here is a breakdown of the wide receivers to watch during the game.
