I don’t know whether a jaguar or a ram would win in a fight (probably the jaguar?), but I am going to pick the Los Angeles Rams to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 of the NFL season by a score of 20-10.
This game will start in the United States at 9:30am ET because this one is being played in London, and if Thursday night contests are hard to predict, then games in another continent are a different task.
Technically a “home” game for Jacksonville, but most of the players, coaches and staff, homes are in the U.S. and travel tends to affect everyone in different ways, though the impact of travel and sports can be tough to measure.
What we do know is both teams have been up and down.
Jacksonville beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5, but they are coming off a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
For the Rams, I don’t know what this team is, does anyone? One moment the Rams look complete, then there will be stretches where the team plays poorly.
So, by the end of this season which parts of either team will be truer? Their good stretches or their rough patches?
Trevor Lawrence will likely be the reason the Jags either win or lose, and their defense has been playing at a high level, so as great as Matthew Stafford has been, it could be tough for him against Jacksonville, especially without Puka Nacua who might miss the game.
With L.A.’s defense being capable of generating pressure, it will be on them to limit Lawrence’s time to throw, otherwise Brian Thomas Jr. and more could show up in a big way on Sunday.
I think this is a very well-matched contest on paper, but we’ll see how it plays out in real life.
Final Score Prediction:
Rams 20, Jags 10
Winning factor(s):
In theory, defenses travel better than offenses, and I expect this game to be close for a time with L.A. pulling away at the end similar to what they did against the Baltimore Ravens. Though, there should be zero doubt that Jacksonville can win.
Preseason Predictions:
Week 7 @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Win. The Rams are the more complete team as the Jaguars continue to build up their own defense and figure out the best ways for them to use Travis Hunter.
