Back in early May, the Enquirer reported that Cincinnati had the inside track to host the 2029 NFL Draft.
Then, Minneapolis was chosen to host the 2028 Draft.
And now, according to the Enquirer, “Cincinnati is one step closer to hosting the 2029 event.”
The Enquirer spoke with Cincinnati Regional Sports Commission Director Ben Huffman, who said that his organization and the Cincinnati Bengals are in an “ongoing conversation with the NFL” to bring the Draft to the Queen City.
Although nothing is official
yet, Huffman is already thinking next steps. While space will be an issue, the CRSC director said, “Wherever (the NFL) would like it to be, we will make it happen.”
Of course, Huffman acknowledges that there’s still a lot of work to be done in terms of security and transportation. But, as the article explains, much progress has been made.
Lastly, Huffman noted that just the buzz around a Draft in Cincinnati could help the city land other major events, like the Sports ETA Symposium. “While the landscape is highly competitive, there is clear interest in bringing events to Cincinnati,” he said. “And we are well-positioned to capitalize on that momentum.”
Here’s to hoping we’ll be celebrating the draft in Cincinnati come 2029!
