The Chargers led the Rams with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. By the time they went into the locker room, they were down 10-9. The final score was 24-9.
It was another disaster ending to a game in which the Chargers showed “something.”
They had three drives reach the red zone and they only managed three field goals. That wasn’t enough in a game where the Rams offense was held without a first down until that very last drive of the first half.
It’s a sad time when the offense almost
looks “good” after scoring nine points, but that’s how low the bar was set after their first six games.
CBS Sports’ John Breech felt exactly the way Chargers fans probably did watching Sunday’s loss. That’s why he gave the Bolts a “D” grade for their seventh consecutive loss to begin the season.
“The Chargers offense is broken. This team had a bye in Week 7 to get things fixed, and somehow they actually looked worse. One problem is that Justin Herbert looks like a shell of his former self. Herbert has turned the ball over at least once in every game this season and he added to that total with two bad interceptions against the Rams. It’s very possible that he’s just not a fit for Mike McDaniel’s and if that’s the case, then the Chargers might want to think about moving on from McDaniel.”
