The Pittsburgh Steelers are just days away from their Week 1 opener against the New York Jets, where Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields will face off in a battle of quarterbacks facing their former teams. However, a larger looming issue hangs over the Steelers.
Defensive tackle Cam Heyward held in for a large chunk of training camp, as he wanted a raise on his 2025 salary. A resolution has not been reached in terms of a new deal for Heyward, but he did return to practice. That doesn’t mean he’s going
to suit up, though.
On the latest episode of Not Just Football, Heyward was asked by his co-host Hayden Walsh if he would be playing on Sunday, to which Heyward gave an ominous answer that suggested he may sit out.
“We’ll see,” he said.
A lot of people already felt a certain way about Heyward seeking more money a year after he was given a two-year extension. Should he sit out games, it would almost certainly rub the vast majority of the fan base the wrong way.
