Nick Ball and Brandon Figueroa went to war earlier today (Sat., Feb. 8, 2026) in Liverpool, England for Ball’s WBA Featherweight title in what was an absolute back-and-forth affair.
Going into the twelfth
and final round, the scores were very tight and it was anyone’s fight to win at that point. But just five seconds into the final frame, Figueroa unleashed a wicked left hook that dropped the hometown hero like a sack of potatoes. Right when it seemed Ball wasn’t going to answer the 10-count he pulled off his best Tyson Fury impression and rose to his feet.
But it was only a matter of time.
Indeed, Figueroa pounced on his wounded foe and unleashed a barrage of strikes that sent him crashing through the ropes, prompting the official to put an end to the fight once and for all. A little bit of drama ensued after because Ball’s corner didn’t appreciate Team Figueroa’s seemingly excessive celebration. That said, it didn’t look all that excessive from our viewpoint, but rather a team proud of its accomplishment.
Check out some of the highlights:
The loss is Ball’s first-ever defeat after kicking off his career at 23-0-1, which includes three consecutive defenses of his WBA Featherweight title. As for Figueroa, he improves to 27-2-1 and tastes gold once more since dropping his WBC Featherweight title to Stephen Fulton last year.
