Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to as the Giants get ready to face off against the Philadelphia Eagle this weekend.
Which NFL teams should be buyers, sellers or stand pat at the trade deadline? | The Athletic
New York Giants: Buyers. It’s important to note that the Giants should be buyers only from the discount rack. A blockbuster trade for someone like Colts running back Jonathan Taylor that strips valuable early-round picks wouldn’t be prudent for a team still building. But a modest deal — say, a sixth-round pick for a veteran defensive tackle to upgrade
their porous run defense — would make sense for a team with a clear path to its first NFC East title since 2011.

Power Rankings: What’s the biggest need for every team? | Yahoo! Sports
Biggest need: Running back. The Giants landing a running back is one of the easiest predictions of the trade deadline. They have plenty of injuries at the position, seem lukewarm at best on Cam Skattebo, but have a great chance to win a bad division.
How much do the Giants want to pay for a running back? Jonathan Taylor is the dream, but he won’t be cheap. Perhaps Tony Pollard will be more reasonable, though he has played very well lately and that could increase the price. The Giants will be looking at every possibility to help at running back, which could push them closer to a division title.

Graziano: I covered the Vikings’ loss Sunday in Detroit a week after covering the Giants’ victory in Houston. Vikings people I spoke to were very happy for quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who thrived in his first start as a Giant after being traded away from the team that drafted him 10th in 2024. Minnesota coaches told me they believed McCarthy had matured significantly since the start of the 2026 offseason (the word “maturity” is also one the Giants’ coaches are using to praise McCarthy) and they were happy the team had been able to send him to a place where he had a chance to be successful. They also recognize they have a chance to look bad if McCarthy plays well for the Giants and Kyler Murray doesn’t get things going in Minnesota, but everyone agrees it was time for a scenery change.
Inside the mind of a mindful quarterback now leading Giants | The Record
At an early age, J.J. McCarthy gained tremendous inspiration from studying the mental approach of elite champions, business leaders and respected icons from all walks of life.
When he got to IMG Academy in Florida for his senior year of high school, the teenage dream of one day becoming a quarterback who embodied all those qualities became more reality than fantasy.
The Giants’ overlooked roster resource that has propelled their surge | New York Post
It is the one constant for every NFL team to one degree or another. Players will get hurt. Starters will go down. Backups will have to play.
An under-the-radar strength that has helped the Giants maintain first place: They have depth on their roster. That means injuries have not destroyed their chances and the coaching staff has options for starting spots.

Report: Giants, Deonte Banks unable to reach agreement on extension | The Record
The New York Giants offered cornerback Deonte Banks a contract extension that was declined, reports ESPN’s Jordan Raanan and Giants Nation Show host Bobby Skinner. Both confirmed the organization attempted to lock up the 2023 first-round pick before he reaches free agency after the 2026 season, in an offer that had the same structure with a little bit less than the Newsome contract extension
.”That looks like that’s going to go to the end of the season and into free agency,” Raanan said. “But they did try to get something done with Deonte Banks, which tells how they feel about him.”
NFL wide receiver rankings: Jaxon Smith-Njigba remains No. 1| PFF
8. Malik Nabers, New York Giants (no change). Nabers and the Giants were on a bye in Week 8, with Nabers having put together four straight 100-yard receiving games, leading the NFL in receiving yards from Weeks 4 through 7. On the season, he ranks 12th in PFF receiving grade and ninth in yards per route run, but his recent form is as good as anyone’s in the league.
