The “sweet science” is making a comeback.
Whether or not that’s good or bad for the fighters could depend on what happens with the controversial Ali Revival Act
that is currently under review. In the meantime the show must go on, which is why Red Owl Boxing is constructing a new Houston-based venue that will be dedicated exclusively to the production of live televised boxing events beginning in 2027.The organization recently appointed veteran combat sports and media attorney Greg Bloom as CEO.
“Houston
is a phenomenal city for boxing, and an arena of our own allows us to deliver consistency at the highest level in terms of fan experience, fighter experience and in-house operations,” said Red Owl Boxing Executive Chairman Gabriel Fanous. “In Greg Bloom, I have a process-focused leader with ample experience in building combat sports media companies. I don’t hire people and tell them what to do. I hire smart people so they can advise me on what to do.”
Until the two-story, 25,000 square foot “Owl’s Nest” has finished construction, the promotion will continue its stateside tour, which includes the May 29 show on DAZN from inside Archer Music Hall in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The card is headlined by a super featherweight showdown between undefeated rising star Deonte “Lay ‘Em Down” Brown (17-0, 11 KO’s) and well-traveled knockout artist Yohan Vasquez (26-6, 21 KO’s).
