Lamine Yamal has once again called on Julian Alvarez to make the move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona are expected to make a new bid for the Argentina international after his involvement at World Cup 2026, and Yamal says he’d be a great signing for Barcelona.
“Everyone knows he’s a top player, the kind everyone wants,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“I’ve already said it: we’re open to welcoming him, and if he comes, we’ll all be very happy. I think he’s a great
fit for Barça’s style. I have no idea what the situation is, but I hope so.”
Argentina and Spain are both preparing for quarter-final ties at World Cup 2026, with Yamal admitting that he’s been impressed by Lionel Messi’s performances for the defending champions.
“Incredible. Everyone knows who Messi is, but no one expected him to be playing at such a high level. I’m so happy for him. I’m happy for Neymar and Cristiano too,” he added.
“They’ve shaped the childhoods of everyone playing now. Anything good that happens to them will be good for me. And if I make it to the final, I want to win it.”
Spain take on Belgium for a place in the last four on Friday, while Argentina are up against Switzerland on Sunday.
