The New England Patriots’ cinderella season is over. Taking on the Seattle Seahawks with the Vince Lombardi Trophy on the line, the team of head coach Mike Vrabel was beaten 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.
The game was a defensively-dominated affair from start to finish. But while New England’s played well and was mostly able to limit the damage, the Seahawks’ truly dominated on that side of the ball.
Drake Maye and the Patriots offense were shut out in the first three quarters, and by the time they finally
got on the board — a 35-yard touchdown pass from Maye to Mack Hollins — it was too little, too late. At the end of the day, they finished with only one score and two turnovers.
With the loss, the Patriots end the 2025 season a combined 17-4. They went 14-3 in the regular season to claim their first AFC East title in six years, and entered the postseason as the second seed in the conference. New England subsequently beat the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans in the wild card and divisional rounds before punching their Super Bowl ticket with a road win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
The Super Bowl loss is the Patriots’ first on the game’s biggest stage since a game against the Eagles in February 2018, as well as their sixth overall in a record 12 appearances.
