Pregame notes
The final preseason game is upon us. The Wizards so far have shown some flashes of brilliance during this preseason, with some encouraging performances from the Anthony Davis and
Trae Young, as well as some of the youngest stars like AJ Dybansta, Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly and Tre Johnson.
With that in mind, there are still some things that the preseason has shown. The Wizards’ defense was rather sloppy during their, 131 -122, loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Despite a solid offensive output, the Wizards on defense allowed the Nets to shoot 57 percent from the field for the game. Call it just the preseason woes or not, the Wizards’ brass will most definitely want to show that this team can defend at a high level. Let’s see if we see any adjustments or improvement from what we saw on Monday night.
On the other side for Friday’s game, the Pelicans are getting ready for what is also their 4th and final preseason game. New Orleans, like the Wizards, have a young roster and are looking to continue to round out their roster as they look to improve upon a very disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
Given this is the last preseason game, we should expect to see more playing time from the deeper parts of both teams’ rosters as the teams will begin final cuts in preparation for the season’s start next week.
