The Michigan Wolverines made waves in the offseason, picking up some key additions in the transfer portal. Some of those additions, like running back Justice Haynes, have been crucial for the Wolverines this
season, while others haven’t even seen the field. Here’s a quick look at where the players stand through the first four games of the season.
QB Mikey Keene
We know that quarterback Mikey Keene is still working through an injury and hasn’t seen any playing time this season. With the success the Wolverines are having, who knows if we’ll see him on the field in a Michigan uniform or not.
QB Jake Garcia
The quarterback transferred from East Carolina and did see some action in the game against Central Michigan. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he was on the field for six total snaps. He had a 62.4 rating for his performance.
RB Justice Haynes
Running back Justice Haynes is one of the most dynamic players on Michigan’s offense. He’s played in all four games for the Wolverines and has been on the field for 171 snaps, according to PFF. He has an overall 82.1 grade from the site and has racked up 537 yards and six touchdowns on his 66 carries.
RB John Volker
The Princeton transfer has not seen any playing time this season.
WR Donaven McCulley
Wide receiver Donaven McCulley is another player who’s been a feature on Michigan’s offense. According to PFF, he’s been on the field for 216 snaps and has an overall grade of 69.8. So far this season, he’s got 13 catches for 197 yards.
WR Anthony Simpson
Wide receiver Anthony Simpson had one catch against Central Michigan. He has 10 total yards on the season. According to PFF, he’s been on the field for 22 snaps over three games and has an overall grade of 59.9.
OL Brady Norton
The offensive lineman has played in two games this season. He’s been on the field for 98 snaps, according to PFF. He has a grade of 55.8.
OL Lawrence Hattar
Offensive lineman Lawrence Hattar has also played in two games this season. He’s been on the field for just 19 snaps, according to PFF. He has an overall grade of 61.9.
CB Tevis Metcalf
The defensive back has only been on the field for 13 snaps, according to PFF. He had a relatively good performance against New Mexico, grading out at 67.4. He has been dealing with an injury this season and was listed out against Central Michigan and Nebraska.
CB Caleb Anderson
Defensive back Caleb Anderson is also dealing with an injury. He was listed as out against multiple teams this season and hasn’t seen the field yet for the Wolverines.
S TJ Metcalf
Defensive back TJ Metcalf has been a key defender, already logging 226 snaps, according to PFF. With a grade of 65.0, he’s had one interception and 15 total tackles, including 1.5 TFLs and a pass breakup.
DL Damon Payne
Defensive lineman Damon Payne has been on the field in all four games, for a total of 110 snaps. That’s according to PFF. He’s got a 67.9 grade. He’s got five total tackles, including one tackle for loss.
DL Tre Williams
Defensive lineman Tre Williams has played 99 snaps, according to PFF. He’s received a 72.7 grade for his efforts on the field. He has five total tackles, including two tackles for loss against Oklahoma. He was also credited with a pass breakup in the game against Central Michigan.
LB Troy Bowles
According to PFF, linebacker Troy Bowles has been on the field for 43 snaps and played in three games. He’s got a 61.0 grade. He’s registered seven tackles, including two for a loss, and one sack. He also forced a fumble against Central Michigan.
LB Rocco Milia
Linebacker Rocco Milia hasn’t seen playing time this season.
LS Trent Middleton
Long snapper Trent Middleton has not seen the field this season.
K Beckham Sunderland
Kicker Beckham Sunderland has been on the field for 26 snaps and has a PFF grade of 61.9. Of his 26 kickoffs, 16 have been touchbacks.
