The Ohio State Buckeyes left Week 2 of the 2025 season with their first loss, falling to the Texas Longhorns 25-22 at home. They would finish the year 10-2 and No. 4 in the BCS rankings. But in reality, the Buckeyes’ hopes of winning a National Championship were over after that
defeat.
It’s a bit different for the Longhorns nearly 20 years later. Despite losing to Ohio State in Week 1, the hope of winning a National Championship is still on the table. And the expectation is as well.
This week’s SB Nation Reacts poll asked Texas fans if their season expectations had changed after the team’s loss to Ohio State in Week 1. Short answer? No.

Steve Sarkisian, Arch Manning, and the Horns attempt to bounce back against the San Jose State Spartans, opening as a 35.5-point favorite. The hefty number isn’t deterring people from taking Texas.
