Recap
1st Inning
After being held scoreless in the first game, Rutgers changed the tune in the first inning. Ashtyn Danley loaded the bases after Rutgers had a string of hits. A bases loaded walk gave the Scarlett Knights their first run of the day.
In the home half, FSU stepped in against Brooke Shifflett for Rutgers. A one out walk to Beachum was followed with a double off the bat of Danley. With runners in scoring position, Anna Hinde gave her team a RBI sacrifice fly to tie the game. Following Hinde, Kennedy Harp gave the Seminoles the lead with a single into the outfield.
3rd Inning
It got dicey in the 3rd inning, as Danley gave up back to back walks. Bella Dimitrijevic entered in relief after the walks, needing to get three outs. The freshman put the ball in the air to get two outs, and got her first strikeout of the day to keep Rutgers off the board.
5th Inning
Beachum began the inning with a single, and Danley brought her home on a double. Extending the lead with a runner on base, Hinde blasted a 2-run homerun off of Marley Caldwell. The two RBI’s made it 5-1 in favor of the Seminoles.
7th Inning
Dimitrijevic began her final outing with a single, but a big double play erased the runner, and gave FSU two outs. With Rutgers down to their final out, they had a single before Dimitrijevic struck out the next batter, giving FSU a 5-1 win.
