Alexa Grasso could be staring down a title shot after another impressive performance as she took out Manon Fiorot at Noche UFC on Saturday.
Much like her stunning win over Maycee Barber earlier this year, Grasso came out ultra aggressive and really started pouring on the punishment. It was everything that Fiorot could do to survive as Grasso was just battering her with punches and looking for the knockout.
While Grasso did score an early knockdown, she didn’t get the finish but it was still a brilliant
performance from start to finish with all three judges giving her the fight with 29-28 scores as she secures her second win in a row overall with the unanimous decision victory.
“Viva Mexico!” Grasso shouted to the Noche UFC crowd in Arizona. “This fired me up. My boxing is my signature. Now I’ll get that belt back one day.”
From the jump, Grasso was just overwhelming with her combinations and while Fiorot eventually made the necessary adjustments to avoid so much damage, she just couldn’t keep the former champion off her during the three round battle.
At the close of the first round, Grasso snapped off a nasty punch that put Fiorot down and if not for running out of time, the former flyweight champion might have earned the finish. Still, Grasso was fast, accurate and never slowed down as she continuously put together blistering combinations to stay ahead on the scorecards and Fiorot just had no real answers.
When it was over, Grasso clearly did more than enough to get the win and she now hopes a title shot awaits her in the future with a new champion about to be crowned at UFC 332 when Natalia Silva takes on Wang Cong in the main event with now former champion Valentina Shevchenko recovering from an injury.
