that day only to be silenced by Dallas Keuchel, who pitched scoreless ball over six frames. Solo home-runs from Carlos Gomez and Colby Rasmus would be enough, and the soon to be dynasty had authored its first chapter. That was October 6th, 2015. What would transpire next, four World Series Appearances and a pair of World Championships. Memories to last a lifetime.
Since 2015, the other professional franchises in town haven’t fared as well. The Rockets have run through a gauntlet of coaches. Kevin McHale, J.B. Bickerstaff, Mike D’Antoni, Stephen Silas and current front man Ime Udoka, all in search of returning to The Finals which has evaded them for more than three decades.
The Texans have also hired five head coaches in that span. Bill O’Brien, Romeo Crennel, the lost season with David Culley, Lovie Smith and now DeMeco Ryans. The only championship that’s happened there was the hosting of Super Bowl 41, which the Texans weren’t a participant of. There’s been seven playoff berths but zero advancement past the divisional round.
