On Sunday, the network of SB Nation communities set a new record for most comments ever in a single day. We’ve been around for 20+ years, that’s a lot of comments.
The start of football season played a big role in that, of course, but our baseball communities grind it out every day as well.
For 20 years we’ve built SB Nation around the idea of community, and that continues to bear itself out
with millions of comments per month. Not all of them are Dallas fans screaming at the Cowboys, either.
Recently, we made an effort to make it easier to join and comment on our sites with the new SB Nation app. When someone signs up for the app, they can join any teams they want. The data so far is interesting: the most common pairing of favorite teams across the network is in Detroit (following the Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings). The second most common is Philadelphia with the Eagles, 76ers, Phillies and Flyers. Seattle, Kansas City and the Wisconsin area (Packers and Brewers) follow behind.
It’s fun to see it all happening, especially on the NFL Feed on Sundays with folks from all 32 NFL teams. We made the app with community in mind: quicker to scroll to the comments, faster game day threads and easier to make your own feed post.
