In January, Liverpool made a big push to sign Rennes rising star centre half Jeremy Jacquet in a transfer that could cost as much as £60M with add ons and also included a loan back to the Ligue 1 side for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
While the club acknowledged the signing at the time, with the calendar ticking over to July 1st today Jacquet is fully and finally a Liverpool player, and so they took the chance to announce that—and perhaps also to remind fans that the talented centre half is on
their books.
“It’s a legendary club and the football philosophy and project really appealed to me,” Jacquet said of his decision to join the Reds in the winter window. “My family and I believe we have made the right choice and we feel really happy here.
As for the shoulder injury that he suffered soon after agreeing his Liverpool move and that in the end kept him out of the action for Rennes despite his desire to see out the season with them, Jacquet says he’s feeling good and is will be ready for pre-season.
“I feel much improved and I will be 100% ready,” he added. “because “I’m a little ahead of schedule. I was given the go-ahead to start training with the group [at Rennes] but it was a bit late to be with the team, but with continued work I’ll be fully fit before the season.”
