The Iowa Cubs roasted the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers), 1-0.
Walker Powell was activated off the Development List and tossed six scoreless innings, giving up just three hits. Powell struck out five and walked no one.
Ryan Brasier
threw the seventh inning and surrendered two one-out singles. But a double play ended the threat. Brasier did not strike anyone out in his one inning of work.Ethan Roberts tossed the final two innings and collected the win. Roberts gave up three hits including two in the ninth,
but two outfield assists by right fielder Hayden Cantrelle in the ninth kept any runs from scoring. Roberts struck out two and walked no one.
Second baseman Nicky Lopez tripled home Cantrelle in the bottom of the eighth inning for the only run of the game. Lopez went 2 for 4.
Cantrelle was 1 for 3, but as noted earlier, he had two critical outfield assists in the ninth inning.
