The Las Vegas Raiders signed defensive tackle Benito Jones as a free agent this offseason.
Let’s take a closer look at Jones:
Size:
6-1, 335 pounds.
NFL experience:
He was signed by the Miami Dolphins in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. He played six games as a rookie and spent most of the season on the practice squad. He spent the 2021 season on the practice squad. He was cut by the Dolphins after training camp in 2022 and was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions. He spent two seasons with the Lions. He signed back
with the Dolphins in 2024 and spent the past two seasons there. He has played in 71 NFL games and started 38 games, all in the past three seasons. He started eight games in 2025.
College:
He went to Mississippi.
How he will fit in with Raiders:
Raiders’ defensive coordinator Rob Leonard was Miami’s assistant defensive line coach in Jones’ rookie season. So, there is familiarity there. The Raiders are going to use a nose tackle more in their 3-4 defensive base and Jones fits that mold. he very well could be the starting nose tackle and log a lot of playing time in 2026.
