The Syracuse Orange will need to replace another offensive starter we thought was coming back in 2026. Last night wide receiver Darrell Gill, Jr. announced that he’d be entering the transfer portal on Friday.
Gill went from a late in the cycle signing by Dino
Babers to a productive wide receiver the last two seasons with the Orange. He was over 500 yards receiving in both 2024 and 2025 and came up with some highlight reel plays.
Gill departs before his final season of eligibility and opens a starting spot with top recruits Calvin Russell and Amare Gough coming in a couple of weeks. It also makes me wonder if Emmanuel Ross could decide to remain with the Orange now that Gill is leaving. Something to keep an eye on the next couple of weeks as the shuffling of players is going to continue right up to the end of the January portal period.
Joining Gill in announcing their intent to enter the portal is linebacker/defensive end Jahide Lesaine, Jr. Lesaine appeared in 17 games over two seasons and had five tackles and a fumble recovery. The NJ native was a 3-star recruit in the 2024 class and these departures bring the total to 25 players.
We’re sure to have more transfer news so stay tuned.
