Last week was highly impressive for the Dallas Cowboys offense. They scored 37 points and ultimately did so on just eight possessions. That is some truly elite work.
You don’t have to be a football historian to understand that, clearly. Everyone can tell that the Cowboys offense is moving and grooving and that the defense certain still needs to figure things out a bit.
Regarding both sides of the spectrum, something we like to do around here is put what happened up against the prism of franchise history.

Here are this week’s historical notes.
CeeDee Lamb did indeed have a day
During the game against the Washington Commanders, CeeDee Lamb recorded over 150 receiving yards and had multiple touchdowns. It was his third career game where this was the case.
With three career games of this variety Lamb is now tied with several people for second in franchise history. He has to double his total to match Bob Hayes, though.
Dak was dominant AND clean
Much was made about how Dak Prescott passed Tony Romo as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns during the game. That makes sense given how stout of a record that is, although it was obviously inflated for both players given the eras they played in as opposed to other quarterbacks in franchise history.
Prescott also tied Romo for the most games with multiple passing touchdowns thrown which only requires two to be the case. Prescott threw four touchdowns on the day, but impressively he did so without any interceptions.
This was Prescott’s 11th career game with four or more touchdowns and zero interceptions on his day. You can see that he has a significant lead on the field in franchise history. In fact, there are 23 games in all of franchise history where this has happened so Dak has almost matched everyone else’s total combined.
Jake Ferguson got in on the action, too
Back to receiving touchdowns, Lamb was not the only player to haul in a pair. Jake Ferguson found the endzone twice as well.
If we isolate games with multiple receiving touchdowns to tight ends specifically we can see that Ferguson has now had four across his career. With his next one he would obviously tie the trio ahead of him.
Interestingly, of the four games total, three have come in the last year for Ferguson. This happened at the New York Jets last season and in both home games against Washington last and this year (obviously).
Brandon Aubrey was good from downtown again
There were so many points scored throughout this game that it was easy to miss Brandon Aubrey going a perfect three for three as far as his field goal attempts. It appears that any concern born out of Week 1 and his miss there has fully dissipated.
One of Aubrey’s field goals was his specialty though as it came from beyond the arc, as in from at least 60 yards out. This was Aubrey’s seventh career field goal from this range and just the 11th overall in franchise history. All of them have occurred between Aubrey and Brett Maher, amazingly all since 2018.
All told these are some pretty neat and interesting marks from a handful of Cowboys players.
Here’s to hoping they continue to reach these types of places as the season goes on.
