In Week 8, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos in a crucial game in the AFC West race. The Chiefs could hold a three-game lead in the division race by sweeping the season series with Denver, while a loss could even out the standings going into the second half of the schedule.
The game kicks off at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, and it’s just one of the crucial matchups in the AFC playoff race this week.
- The (5-1) Buffalo Bills will host the (4-3) Baltimore Ravens at Noon
- The (5-2) Pittsburgh Steelers will host the (5-2) Cleveland Browns at Noon
The Bills lead the AFC East and are the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff race behind the Chiefs;
Kansas City currently holds the tiebreaker because the Bills have one conference loss. The two will match up on Thanksgiving night in Week 12.
The Ravens are currently on the outside looking in, but a win against Buffalo could vault them back into the mix, especially with one of their AFC North foes bound to lose in the other highlighted game.
Cleveland has already beaten Pittsburgh this year and is currently the No. 3 seed in the AFC. So, similar to the Chiefs-Broncos matchup, that game could swing a division race
According to football data analyst Computer Cowboy on X, the Steelers, Ravens and Broncos have a shot to swing their playoff probabilities in the right direction with a victory.
On the flip side, the Chiefs’ AFC West title probabilities could swing from 38% with a loss to 84% with a victory.
A Week 8 win would boost both Buffalo and Kansas City’s chances of earning the No. 1 seed and a postseason bye week.
This weekend, at roughly the year’s midseason point, there is a lot to learn about the contenders in the AFC
