According to a report from Sport Bild, Bayern Munich star Harry Kane really might not be interested in a move to FC Barcelona after all.
A report from Sport earlier this week indicated that Kane could be
positioning himself for a transfer to Catalonia, but that is not the case per Sport Bild:
It is known that Kane – contrary to many reports from Spain and England – is not currently considering a possible transfer. The Munich number 9 has repeatedly confirmed this himself. In an interview with the Guardian, Kane said: “We are in a fantastic phase right now and I’m not thinking about anything else.”
When asked about the constant speculation regarding a possible return to England, he explained that this was not on his mind at the moment.
But that’s not all!
In recent weeks, Kane has repeatedly expressed his openness to extending his contract with Bayern. When BILD asked him at the end of September, after he had reached the 100-goal mark for the record champions, whether he also wanted to score his next 100 goals in Munich, he replied: “Yes, here in Munich.”
When asked directly about a possible contract extension with Bayern , he said: “I still have almost two years left on my contract. So it’s not like I’m in the last year of my contract and everyone’s panicking. I think the club is happy with me and I’m happy with the club. So yes, these talks could happen. They haven’t happened yet. But if they do, we’ll have an open and honest conversation – about where I stand and where the future of the club lies. All I can say is that we’re heading in the right direction and that I’m happy about it.”
For a bit now, it has started to feel like — at a minimum — Kane sees out his contract and maybe even explores an extension. A new deal is something that Bayern Munich would fully endorse per Sport Bild:
Bayern Munich’s management has repeatedly emphasized their desire to continue working with their top scorer. Sporting director Max Eberl (52) and his colleagues are confident that this will happen. Besides Kane’s outstanding sporting performance, with 22 goals already this season under coach Vincent Kompany (39/recently extended his contract until 2029), his personal happiness also gives hope that he will stay. Kane, his wife Katie, and their four children feel extremely comfortable in Munich.
At the beginning of October, SPORT BILD reported that Bayern planned to resume contract extension talks with Kane after his release clause expired at the end of January 2026. The statements of the past few weeks therefore do not suggest that Kane is seriously considering leaving Munich soon – neither to Spain nor to England.
Bayern Munich has kept up its winning ways and things are all good in Bavaria.
However, that does not mean that the Bayern Munich content machine has ceased production on talking points for us. Let’s jump in and have some fun. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Football Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Should we make anything of the Lennart Karl story from Tz? Why some folks could be overreacting to much ado about nothing.
- Let’s review Bayern Munich’s summer transfers and loan…how are they doing? Would any of them have helped this season?
- Touching on some of the most recent news — Liverpool and Manchester City to striker out on Michael Olise? Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz already looking for exit to Real Madrid?
