This afternoon, we learned that Kentucky Football quarterback Cutter Boley is planning to enter the transfer portal.
The Hodgenville (KY) native had a solid redshirt freshman season for the Wildcats, throwing for more than 2,100 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Many thought he could be the future of the program, but now, it seems like Boley will head elsewhere to continue his football career.
According to Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones, new Kentucky head coach Will Stein wanted to bring
in a transfer quarterback to compete with Boley, and another school has made a strong offer for Boley to transfer. Those two factors together likely led to Boley’s decision to transfer.
The early reports are that Arizona State is the team to watch for Boley. The Sun Devils are losing their starting QB, Sam Leavitt, to the transfer portal.
On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong are reporting that “Arizona State looms as the early school to watch in Boley’s portal recruitment,“ while North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska are also in the mix.
Boley is a Kentucky native, which makes this hurt a little bit more for many fans, but there will certainly be plenty of quarterback options in the transfer portal for Will Stein and Co. to take a look at.
You have to wonder if maybe this opens the door for Oregon transfer Austin Novosad to come to Kentucky. Novosad likely wouldn’t consider Kentucky with Boley in the fold, but now, who knows?
Nonetheless, Kentucky will be on the hunt for a new quarterback.
