According to a report from Bild journalists Michael Markus, Maximilian Wessing, Jörg Hamlet, and Yannick Hüber (as captured by Get German Football News), Borussia Dortmund and star center-back Nico Schlotterbeck are closing in on a new deal:
Dortmund’s contract negotiations with Nico Schlotterbeck (26) are entering a crucial phase! His agent, Matthias Sammer (58), made a startling statement on Sky yesterday: “I am absolutely convinced that he will stay at Borussia Dortmund!”
According to information
from BILD and SPORT BILD, negotiations for the contract extension with the national team player are in their final stages. His new contract is almost completely negotiated. Agreement has been reached, especially on the most important point.
GGFN added more context:
Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck is set to extend his contract at the club.
It has been a long and drawn-out process, but the talk surrounding the 26-year-old is coming to an end, with it being reported that an agreement has been reached.
Schlotterbeck will extend his contract at the Signal Iduna Park until 2031, and will earn a salary of around €14m per year. There will be a release clause in the contract, which will become valid from the summer of 2027, and it is said to be worth around €60m.
For a period, Schlotterbeck was linked to Bayern Munich, but Dayot Upamecano’s contract extension effectively killed that idea for the Bavarians.
