Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich was not happy with the way the team played in the first half of its 2-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, but did think things got better in the half.
In the victory, Bayern Munich also clinched a bye to the round of 16, which Kimmich thinks could help with the team’s health.
“We didn’t do well at all in the first half. We were late on the second balls, made many decisions and lost the ball a lot. We allowed the opponent to get into the game
and they had a big chance, which Manu saved. The second half was more like what we had imagined,” said Kimmich 9as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “On the one hand, that can be an advantage. On the other hand, Paris went through the playoffs last season and won the Champions League. You can never know which one is the best path. But, of course, two fewer games will help us as far as the body is concerned.”
At this point, Kimmich is likely just wanting some extra downtime so his mates can get healthy. With so many injuries on the backline, Bayern Munich will take any extra time off it can get.
