The Philadelphia Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday for the first round of the NFL playoffs, and the referees for Wild Card Weekend have been revealed. Alan Eck will be running the game
at Lincoln Financial Field, and the Eagles are 8-1 in the nine games with Eck on the officiating crew.
Most recently, Eck was the referee back in Week 4 when the Eagles beat the Buccaneers, 31-25, in Tampa Bay. The Eagles were called for eight penalties for 83 yards in that game, including:
- Taunting
- Defensive Pass Interference (x2)
- Roughing the Passer (x2)
- Illegal Blindside Block
- Offensive Holding
- Illegal Shift
- Delay of Game
The good news is that Eck also flagged Tampa Bay three times for offensive holding, so the Eagles dominant defensive front could have some help keeping the 49ers o-line honest. But, even if Eck is preferable up front, the Eagles secondary will need to be careful not to draw DPI.
