The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off the start of their offseason program, and are taking a brief pause to build their roster through the 2026 NFL Draft. GM Howie Roseman and his staff will open the night with one first-round pick, at No. 23 overall. The draft starts at 8 PM ET, but the Eagles probably won’t be on the clock until closer to 11:00 PM.
In recent years, Roseman has talked about the evolution of his draft strategy, and has learned to embrace picking the best player available rather than
trying to fill any specific depth concern. The Eagles have had a lot of success with the GM’s new approach over the past four drafts, and they’re looking to continue that streak.
Best player available might look a little different during this year’s event, with the draft class considered more underwhelming than usual —, and recent reports suggest that Roseman and Co. could end up making a trade for a veteran player over the weekend as a result. Still, the Eagles will likely add to the trenches, and after several years of defensive-heavy draft classes, could lean a bit more toward the offensive side of the ball this time around.
The Eagles will begin the main event with eight total picks, but that number could look very different at the end of the weekend if Howie uses their draft capital as leverage over the coming days.
