Some might say that Arianna Grace is a fluke as Knockouts champion. The daughter
of Santino Marella won the gold from Lei Ying Lee at No Surrender. Arianna’s first title defense will be against Jody Threat. Under normal circumstances, Threat would mop the floor with Arianna. Unfortunately for Threat, she was attacked by Tessa Blanchard and her goonettes. Threat is injured going into the title bout with busted ribs.Despite the injury, Threat isn’t going to let the opportunity slip through her fingers
when Impact airs live on Thursday, March 5 from Atlanta, Georgia. Threat is confident that she will walk away with the Knockouts Championship.
Arianna reflected on paths crossing with Threat over the years. She looked up to Threat. Arianna didn’t feel the same respect when they shared the ring as a tag team. Threat defeated Arianna in the past, but this is a new version of Arianna.
It appears that the deck is stacked against Threat’s title hopes. Not only is she suffering from an injury, but Stacks will likely be ringside to interfere on behalf of Arianna. On top of that, Tessa might be green with jealousy and make sure Threat doesn’t win the title.
The lineup for Thursday night Impact on AMC includes:
- TNA X-Division Championship: Leon Slater (c) vs. Nic Nemeth
- Knockouts Championship: Arianna Grace (c) vs. Jody Threat
- #1 contender for TNA World Tag Team Championship: The System (Brian Myers & Bear Bronson) vs. The Righteous vs. Rich Swann & BDE vs. Sinner & Saint
- Elayna Black vs. Mara Sade
Leon Slater pinned Nic Nemeth in the tag team main event of No Surrender. Nemeth got his pin back in tag team action when Eric Young caused a distraction. Pinning a champ often earns a title shot in TNA. This time it will be one-on-one for bragging rights and gold.
Participants for the #1 contender tag team bout don’t make much sense. Brian Myers and Bear Bronson have never tagged together in TNA. The Righteous recently lost a tag title bout to the Hardys, and they are in the process of trying to earn the trust of Matt and Jeff. Challenging them again for the titles doesn’t really accomplish the storyline goal. Rich Swann and BDE recently lost to Sinner & Saint, and the losers get rewarded with a chance to earn a title shot? Go figure.
Elayna Black and Mara Sade are engaged in a war of words as former NXT superstars. Black is annoyed that Sade is getting in the way of her path to the Knockouts Championship.
