One of the best parts of every World Cup is watching the next generation announce itself on the biggest stage, and this tournament has already produced several standout candidates.
For many fans, the obvious answer will be Spain sensation Lamine Yamal. Even though expectations were already sky-high, he continues to look like a player capable of deciding matches against any opponent. His creativity, confidence, and ability to influence games at such a young age have made him one of the faces of the tournament.
Another player who deserves serious consideration is Norway star Antonio Nusa. The winger has continued his rapid rise with energetic performances, fearless dribbling, and the ability to create danger whenever he gets into space. While Norway entered the tournament with much of the attention focused on their established stars, Nusa has shown that he is more than capable of becoming one of the team’s central figures for years to come.
However, one of the most intriguing breakout stars has been Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old has earned praise for his performances against strong opposition, with observers highlighting his maturity, composure, and ability to control matches from midfield. His displays have reportedly attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and have helped elevate Morocco’s profile in the tournament.
Japan has also benefited from the emergence of younger talents, while Mexico’s teenage prospect Gilberto Mora has generated excitement whenever he has appeared. The depth of young talent on display suggests the future of international football is in very good hands.
If there is a leader in the clubhouse for the Best Young Player award right now, Bouaddi and Yamal are probably at the front of the conversation, but there is still a long way to go in the tournament. One knockout-stage masterpiece can completely change the debate.
The interesting thing is that there is no shortage of candidates. Some players arrived in North America with major reputations, while others are using this competition as their introduction to a global audience.
