For 90 minutes, Bayern Munich played like the best team in the world. The result was a 7-0 thrashing of relegation zone Union Berlin. Michael Olise’s hat trick was out of this world. Harry Kane added another brace like he was doing household chores. Jamal Musiala and Ismael Saibari scored on brilliant individual efforts. Manuel Neuer was only forced to make two saves to keep a clean sheet.
In the postgame conference (via @iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany was very complimentary of his team’s approach.
“The boys were mentally ready for this game,” said Kompany. “We showed energy, moved the ball well and had a good reaction to the poor first half in Elversberg. We showed that we’re hungry and always want to show our best performance. It was a good performance.”
Vincent Kompany has been more flexible with his lineup and tactics this season with the intent of keeping his best players fresh and the rotational players engaged. The strategy is working, as Bayern will head into October with an undefeated record and the healthiest injury report that the club has seen in a long time.
