Just one day shy of the one-year anniversary of Shemar Jean-Charles signing with the Seattle Seahawks
, they’ve re-upped him for one more year.Jean-Charles, a fifth-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2021, also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and the New
Orleans Saints prior to joining the Seattle Seahawks last season. He was mainly a special teamer in Green Bay before seeing more time on defense with New Orleans in 2023-2024.
Perhaps you’re wracking your brain trying to remember Jean-Charles’ time with the Seahawks in 2025? That’s likely because he spent the entire season on the practice squad following his release after training camp. Jean-Charles sustained a lower-body injury which caused him to miss the preseason, contributing to his release.
However, Mike Macdonald and the Seahawks thought enough of Jean-Charles to keep him on the practice squad for the entire season and bring him back into the cornerback competition for 2026. Seattle lost Riq Woolen to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, and will be seeking cornerback depth behind Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe. At the very least, Jean-Charles will be another camp body with the opportunity to prove himself worthy of a roster spot after an injury-riddled 2025.
