We’re down to the final seven games of the season: one week’s worth of games to determine who makes it and who’s out. The Yankees are in prime position to make it as a Wild Card, and hold a narrow lead for the top one at that, but the division is still in play. The Blue Jays’ loss to the Royals kept the door open for New York, as they now sit just two games behind Toronto (though they’d need to clear them by three games due to losing the tiebreaker). Ultimately, unless the Yankees basically win out the ball
is still in Toronto’s court, but they’re welcome to fumble it.
This finale run starts with the series finale here in Baltimore, a matinee matchup where the Yankees will try to win their fifth series of the month. Before that, Jake will run you through the Rivalry Roundup where things are getting crazy in the other two divisions, and Kevin has the 2000 Yankees Diary featuring a devastating revenge game from David Wells. After the game, be on the lookout for John’s social media spotlight.
