The Washington Commanders are entering Year 3 of the Adam Peters/Dan Quinn/Jayden Daniels era, and they kick it off with a pair of road games against division rivals. The Philadelphia Eagles are up first, and they are big favorites at home to kick off the new season. Both teams will have new offensive coordinators when they meet up at Lincoln Financial Field. David Blough takes over from Kliff Kingsbury in Washington, and Sean Mannion replaces Kevin Patullo. Both first-time coordinators are tasked
with installing new, under center offenses and there will be an adjustment period for Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts.
The defenses are a different story with Daronte Jones taking over the Commanders from Joe Whitt Jr, and Vic Fangio forgoing retirement for another year in Philly. Washington went big on defense in free agency, and also used the No. 7 overall pick on former Ohio State LB Sonny Styles. Will that be enough to turn around a defense that was consistently inconsistent last year?
Division games can be unpredictable, but most people are expecting the Eagles to take the season opener in their house. The two teams have vastly different season projections, with the Eagles near the top, and Washington’s prospects severely dimmed after last season fell apart.
