Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being
churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- According to Fightful Select, Bronson Reed re-signed with WWE “quite a long time ago” on a multi-year contract.
- The outlet also mentioned that Andrade signed his new deal with AEW over the last week. However, creative plans were already in place for him before he signed.
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that the reason why AEW isn’t booking Kenny Omega vs. Kyle Fletcher yet is because “Omega’s physical situation is not 100 percent,” and “the feeling was it was better right now not to put Omega in the situation of the kind of a match he’d be expected to do with Fletcher.”
- The Observer says Oba Femi is “still in the plans for NXT going forward” after losing the championship to Ricky Saints, which makes it sound like he won’t be called up to the WWE main roster.
- Tony D’Angelo’s current absence from NXT is not because of an injury, per WON. He simply asked for time off.
- The American Airlines Center says Roman Reigns will be “kicking off” Monday’s episode of Raw in Dallas.
- For whatever it’s worth, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer said Nielsen’s new method for TV ratings is “a disaster for pro wrestling.” He adds that “nobody has been hurt as badly as WWE and AEW,” and “pro wrestling’s value to television right now looks to be taking a very significant hit across the board.”
