Welcome to the Morning Commute
After not coming to Columbia for six years, SEC Nation can’t get enough of Columbia this season. Maybe they finally checked out CJ’s and couldn’t wait to get some more BYFO wings.
Or maybe it’s because
Mizzou is really damn good this season and they’re slated to play another really damn good team in Alabama. In a game that has College Football Playoff implications. No pressure.
The traveling preview show will be back in Columbia this weekend, according to the Mizzou athletic department, the second time the show has been in CoMo this season:
“SEC Nation” airs from 9-11 a.m. CT Saturday from Walsworth Plaza outside Mizzou Arena with host Laura Rutledge being joined by Paul Finebaum, Roman Harper, Jordan Rodgers and Tim Tebow for a weekly breakdown of SEC football.
Planning on going? Maybe we’ll see you there!

When Mizzou’s 2025 schedule was released, fans undoubtedly had the Week 2 Border War and Mayor’s Cup showdown circled as early season tests for the Tigers. But those who believed from the beginning that this year’s team had College Football Playoff potential? It all came down to the Week 7 match up against the bluest of blue blood programs.
God, it sure would be nice to sit here this time next week and write about Mizzou vaulting into the Top 10 of the AP Poll because of their win over Alabama.
For now anyway, this appears to be a small ball type of team. Aside from Carr and Uptegrove’s aforementioned hard hit balls, the others were more softly hit balls that just kinda dropped in. They also got on base via walk and a sac bunt. Like I said, small ball.
We love our small ball here in Missouri!
The Crimson Tide, 9-4-1 (3-3 SEC), rolled over Mizzou soccer with two goals in the first 10 minutes. Head coach Stefanie Golan is now in her longest losing streak with the team since the 2021 season. The losing streak and scoring drought extend to five games, and the record stands at 4-8-1 (1-5-0 SEC).
Hard to win a game when you’re two-nil down in the first ten minutes. Just a thought.
Time to rest up, get healthy and hope the SEC eats itself while we’re hibernating. Looking at you, Vandy vs. ‘Bama.
Seriously, though, that game will be juicy.
“Our offense is ran through the outside. If we can’t find our middle, if they get us out of system, that is where offense is,” head coach Dawn Sullivan said. “I felt like we just needed to pass a little bit better, control that ball, and then be able to find that middle on the move a little bit more than what we did. And we just started going into what they do well, blocking the outsides.”
It’s been an up-and-down season for the Tigers, let’s hope this is the last of the downs. Or at least one of the last downs.
- Over at Rock M+, player preview stuff for Mizzou Hoops is starting in earnest. Watkins is back for a new season of The Verdict and player previews are off and running. On the football side, there’s some conversation about the latest in Mizzou ‘crootin, as well as some reactions from around week six in college football.
