The Wisconsin Badgers are coming off a 42-10 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, which wasn’t as pretty as the score indicated, but nonetheless a victory heading into Week 3 against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Still, that doesn’t mean records weren’t broken, as sophomore
quarterback Danny O’Neil threw for 283 yards, which was the highest of any Badgers quarterback in their first start with the team.
O’Neil completed 23 of 27 passing, tossing for three touchdowns and an interception in an impressive outing. While it seemed like offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes didn’t fully unleash him in the first half, things started to go much smoother in the second half, where O’Neil was 8/9 for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, Badgers starting quarterback Billy Edwards is currently rehabbing a lower-body injury he sustained in Week 1, but is expected back sometime in the next few weeks. Should Wisconsin insert Edwards back into the fold upon his return? Or does O’Neil deserve to at least be a part of the conversation after his first outing?
