It has been a tough start for the teams in the AFC South. The Houston Texans, who were considered by most to be the heavy favorites to win the division, have started 0-2. They lost a shootout to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. This week, despite C.J. Stroud throwing for 353 yards with no interceptions, they only scored 6 points in a 20-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s usually a tough road for a team that starts 0-2 to make the playoffs, but the Texans are still in pretty good position in the division.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are leading the division at 1-1. They lost 20-13 this week to the Denver Broncos. I know the jury is still out on the Cam Ward pick for the Tennessee Titans, but it still looks better than the Travis Hunter pick the Jaguars made in the same draft at #2 overall. The Jags gave up picks number 5, 36, and 126 in the 2025 draft and pick 24 in the 2026 draft to get to pick 2. Hunter, who was supposed to be a two-way star, has just one catch for eight yards this season and has not had an interception in his NFL career.
The Indianapolis Colts also find themselves at 0-2. Their schedule has been tough to start the season, facing the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 1 and the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in Week 2. They took the Chiefs to overtime, but ultimately lost the game 33-30.
There weren’t many people who expected the Tennessee Titans to have a chance at winning the AFC South, but if they can find a way to knock off the New York Giants this week, they will only be, at worst, a game back of the division leader.
