During NXT’s New Year’s Evil show last night (Jan. 6), WWE officially began promoting the arrival of Elio LeFleur.
The 26-year-old masked Frenchman alluded to his pre-WWE wrestling name in the vignette when he referred to himself as “the White Eagle”. LeFleur, whose real name is Cyril Coquerelle, previously worked as Aigle Blanc. He offered a snapshot of his resume as part of his introduction:
“Putting in more than 10 years of work, I have been proving my value in more than 20 countries since I was
16 years old. I’ve helped put French wrestling on the map, and my goal is to continue building on the momentum. The White Eagle is ready to take the flight from Paris, France, to the United States. The French luchador Elio LeFleur is coming to NXT. And, I am here to slash the sky.”
Since his signing was announced in October, LeFleur has been working on NXT’s “Coconut Loop” of small house shows around Florida, and appeared at AAA Alianzas in November, losing a #1 Contender Triple Threat for the lucha libre brand’s Cruiserweight title to Jack Cartwheel.
With the recent call-ups and departures, NXT could use a breakout male star. Will it be Elio LeFleur?
