The Dodgers must win to stave off elimination for at least a day, but in order to do that, they must score, which hasn’t been an easy task in this series against the Brewers. So much is made of this team’s superior resources, and in a game such as this one—more than ever—the stage is set for that advantage to finally play a key role, helping the Dodgers stay alive. Tyler Glasnow takes the ball against Shane Drohan, who has yet to appear in a playoff game in 2026.
Formerly the ace of a Rays team that
made the postseason multiple times—including a World Series appearance against the Dodgers—Glasnow hasn’t been asked to fill that specific role of an ace for the Dodgers, but for one start here, he is going to have to. The solid five or so innings with no more than two runs and a high pitch count—also known as the Glasnow special—are likely not going to cut it for an attack that hasn’t produced regardless of whom it has faced.
The experience of Game 3 was a rather deflating one; between the leadoff homer allowed by Blake Snell and Milwaukee answering in the seventh after Los Angeles scored in the previous inning, the crowd could never get into the game for a sustained period. Oftentimes with sweeps and commanding series wins alike, there is a clear momentum carrying a team—it’s up to Glasnow and company to disrupt that in some way.
Lastly, the immediate impact of Drohan serving as the opener is the likely absence of Max Muncy from the starting lineup. As far as how much leeway the left-hander will get, likely very little, with May ready to step in for a multi-inning appearance out of the bullpen.
